Hollis Brookline High School Highlights

BOYS LACROSSE

June 5: No. 3 HB 16, No. 6 John Stark 4

The Cavaliers moved on to the final-four for the second straight season after easily topping John Stark, 16-4.

Ryan Papineau led Hollis Brookline with five goals. Patrick Dunn netted four goals, including his 100th career, and Sam Whitaker scored four to go along with three assists.

Zach Nardone, Peter Bertone and Dan Ash also scored for the Cavs, with Nardone also chipping in three assists.

Logan Blake was solid in net, stopping five John Stark shots. The Cavaliers will now prepare for their semifinals match against No. 2 Plymouth on Saturday.

BASEBALL

June 5: No. 2 HB 8, No. 15 Merrimack Valley 4

The Cavaliers overcame a potentially devastating third inning to pull off the Division II first-round victory over Merrimack Valley. HB took an early 3-0 lead before Merrimack Valley exploded for four runs in the third inning. The Cavaliers didn’t back down though, responding with a five-run fourth. Cam LaFleur led the offense with a pair of hits and three runs scored. Hugh Devlin and David Walsh each finished with two hits and an RBI while Pigott added two hits and two RBIs.

June 7: No. 2 HB 8, No. 7 Oyster River 2

Cam LaFluer pitched a gem to lead the Cavs into the semifinals. He pitched six innings, struck out 14 and allowed just two runs on five hits. Austin Pigott came on in relief and closed out the game.

At the plate, Pigott was 3 for 3 with two RBIs and two runs scored, while David Walsh was 2 for 2 with three RBIs and a run scored. The Cavs moved on to play Plymouth on Wednesday at Southern New Hampshire University in the semifinal round of the Division II tournament.

GIRLS LACROSSE

June 4: No. 2 Pinkerton 18, No. 7 HB 3

The Cavaliers season came to an end as they fell to Pinkerton in the Division I quarterfinals. The Hollis Brookline defense kept the Astros off the board for the first 20 minutes before the opposition exploded. Katie Tighe, Mariah Passamonte and Regan Burns each scored for the Cavs.

SOFTBALL

No. 4 Windham 12, No. 13 HB 6

Ashley Skey took the loss for the Cavs, going all seven innings in the Division II preliminary round. At the plate, Skey was 2 for 3 with a two run home run. Natalie Paquin was 2 for 4 with a run scored and Steph Buchanan went 3 for 4 with an RBI.

TRACK

June 7: HB competes at MOCs

The Cavaliers had a handful of athletes competing at the Meet of Champions, held at Londonderry High School. No teams scores were kept.

Emma Newton was the top finisher for HB, coming in second in the girls 3,200-meter run (11:03.93). Lindsey Beauregard came in fifth in the triple jump (36-1/2).

The Cavs 4×800 relay team of Suzanne Kagenski, Madeline Partridge, Emilie Newshame and Emily Babcock finsihed 14th.

Evan Porter was the lone competitor for the boys, coming in 11th in the 110 hurdles.
