U13 boys soccer ties 1st-place T-wolves

The U13 boys traveled to Atkinson to challenge the first-place Timberwolves SC on a beautiful Sunday for soccer and came home with a draw.

The first half ended with no goals scored but with the T-wolves having the edge in possession and shots on frame. Stellar central defensive play by Hunter Crea and Joe Mahoney kept the sheet clean in the first half and Brady Cheyne was rock solid locking down his side of the field.

Second-half scoring opened up 45 minutes in with a world-class finish by Danny Sattler from just outside the 18 into side netting. The T-wolves ratcheted up the pressure seeking the equalizer and amazing goalie play by Owen Ford was required to keep the ball out of the net. Ultimately the pressure proved to much and the Cavs gave up the tying goal with just 30 seconds remaining in the game. The match ended in a hard-fought 1-1 draw.

HB Cavs 2, Portsmouth 1

This past weekend the U13 girls team came out strong after having two weeks off. On Saturday HB faced Portsmouth City with home-field advantage. Both teams came out strong and aggressive. HB defense including goalie Rachael DeLong kept them in the game.

At halftime it was tied 1-1. During the second half Coach Kris Komisarek made some midfield adjustments and they came out to win the game 2-1. The first goal was scored by Madeline Boudreau, assisted by Maddie Acheson. The second goal was scored by Paige Mello, assisted by McKenna Dunn.

On Sunday Hollis Brookline faced Hudson United on their turf. Hudson came out and challenged HB right from the start of the game.

Morgan Kipp held the Cavs together with her strong ability as a sweeper and leadership in the back field. Claudia Pack, Eva Kelley, and Allie "AC" Callahan were also strong contributors. During the second half HB found some energy. Abby Hoffpauir received a strong through ball up the middle from Sienna Anderson to take the lead 1-0.

HB was able to hold on to the lead throughout the game, final score 1-0. The team currently has a record of 5-1, and will face their last two regular-season games this weekend against Fremont and Exeter.
