During its Annual Spring Luncheon held on May 18, the Bedford Women’s Club celebrated its charitable donations to organizations which impact Bedford residents. It also installed the 2017-2018 Officers and Directors.

The Bedford Women’s Club held its final luncheon of the year at the Bedford Village Inn. The Cinco de Mayo theme was carried out with piñatas, sombreros and brightly colored centerpieces decorating the Great Hall. A goodie laden, fiesta basket was auctioned off along with the piñatas. The officers for the new year were introduced and presented with roses. The out-going presidents were presented with gifts of appreciation for their service.

The Bedford Women’s Club has once again made a donation to St. Joseph’s Community Services to help cover the cost of Meals on Wheels. Other charities to receive checks are: The Bedford Educational Foundation to support the Stand by Me Workshop at Ross Lurgio Middle School; Upreach Therapeutic Equestrian Center to support scholarships for Bedford participants; the Bedford Library Foundation to make a donation which will allow the library to purchase a pass to the New England Aquarium for the 2017-2018 year; the Bedford Historical Society to purchase handicap accessible fixtures for the main floor lavatory at the Stevens-Buswell Community Center.

The Scholarship Committee will award three Josephine Fearon Scholarships to residents of Bedford, Class of 2017.

Planning for the new year will begin immediately under the leadership of Gen Miller and Margie McKinney, co-presidents. Also serving are: co-first vice presidents, Bennie Hanauer and Becky Hubert; co-second vice presidents, Janis Manno and Beverly Jo Snyder; co-recording secretaries, Nikki Durand, Marilyn Quail, and Ruthie Smith; corresponding secretary, Patty Martin; treasurer, Terry Chapman; and directors, Ellie Hanlon and Becki Kuhns.
